The Chemours Company headquartered in Wilmington, DE, has an Operator/Water Plant position available in Deepwater, NJ. This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Site’s Power and Utilities function. This position will operate one of the largest Surface Water Treatment Facilities in NJ and reports to the Power and Utilities Supervisor.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work is Shift work on a 12 hr. schedule. It is possible to be on only Days or rotating Days & Nights. All shifts work weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and holidays. Overtime is likely and is expected to be shared by personnel in the area.
Power and Utilities personnel will become qualified for 3 job functions: Operating the Water Treatment Plant, Engines & Refrigeration and Outside Lines.
Make proper decisions with minimum supervisory oversight, interact with other site operations to help solve utility supply systems problems, be able to read blue prints and maps, operate and perform basic trouble shooting on Power maintained equipment (Pumps, Compressors, Valves, Filters, etc.).
Must be able to climb & work from ladders, work at heights of 20 ft. or more, on open grating. Wear all Levels of PPE. Work in confined spaces. Work in a boat on open water (Canal or River).
As proprietor of Power equipment, you will safely manage the Work Permit and safe isolation for maintenance/contractors.
Improve basic knowledge and skills by attending courses, earning and maintaining certifications in Water treatment and Refrigeration.
Know regulations related to EPA 608 Refrigerant Handling as well as State & Federal laws for Potable Water. Capable of detailed recordkeeping of plant operations to satisfy regulatory requirements.
Bring a high level of customer focus and understand that all power operations are continuous.
Perform Basic Mechanical functions as training, procedures and tools allow. This will include:
o Inspect and change steam traps and small bore piping/tubing
o Line Breaks and Flange make-up
- Use computers for training, monitoring the process, performing calculations, documenting conditions and communicating w/ site personnel.
In order to be qualified for this role, you //must possess// the following:
T-1 License for Water Treatment.
High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
3 years of operating experience in a Water Treatment Plant or comparable Utility production role.
Valid US Driver’s License w/ no restrictions.
The following skill sets are //preferred// by the business unit:
Strong preference for a T-3 License or higher for Water Treatment.
EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification, with industrial refrigeration experience.
