Credit Risk Middle Office (CRMO) supports the credit approval and decision making processes for Credit Risk Management (CRM). CRMO is actively involved in the analysis of credit data and risk metrics in addition to identifying trends and issues which may impact the bank’s ability to manage credit risk.
The purpose of Credit Risk Middle Office is to establish and maintain a common approach to controls and operational workflows across the risk management infrastructure in support of Corporate Investment Bank. Credit Risk Middle Office provides operational support for Credit Risk Management which includes the following functions:
Rules Based Funds processing incorporates reviewing client/fund documentation to analyze and make subjective decisions that determine JPM’s internal risk grade
Net Asset Value Gathering
Creating, amending and cancelling credit facilities.
Support FO with annual credit due diligence and ensure proposed facilities setup correctly
Exceptions monitoring from an operational control/data quality perspective
Investigation and resolution of overlimits, unlinked and ungraded credit exposure
Projects & Controls
Description of Responsibilities
Provide operational support for CRM by performing the NAV gathering/monitoring process. This includes reviewing client emails for the required information, website checks & ability to scrutinize data to identify the required information from client emails & documents.
Creation of dashboards for various regions, ability to scrutinize the data to identify gaps.
Review the dashboards & KPIs to enhance the files to enhance the formulae and ability to integrate excel dashboards with other tools to optimize the results
Perform end of Day Variance checks on the daily NAV uploads
To ensure accuracy performing BAU related activities / tasks and non-disclosure of client information by preserving client confidentiality
Build an understanding of the various industries teams within Credit Risk Middle Office to analyze the overall process; review process gaps and drive consistency
Partner with the BAU Teams & Liaise with Tech teams for defect tracking, enhancements & UAT Testing
Develop and maintain written procedures and User Acceptance Test Scripts.
Help build business cases for the changes that would improve business processes and see them through to completion
Maintain & lead initiatives across CRMO locally & globally if applicable
Conduct internal quality assurance checks for the BAU Teams & submit the results in a well organized manner to the BAU managers
Improve and maintain a controlled environment (e.g. necessary controls activities along process flow implemented, appropriate control tools in place). Maintain effective and standard operational processes
Manage relationship with internal partners, obtain feedback, lead conference calls.
Take responsibility for the quality of work submitted and ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
Ensure adherence to SLA’s, Internal metrics & firm wide policies.
Essential Skills & Experience
Ability to contribute in meetings, review the existing process to develop, implement and maintain effective standard operational processes.
Ability to interpret and analyze system generated reports and other data, analyze impact to overall processes and deliveries; feed results into the decision making process
Understanding & knowledge of trade life cycle
Ability to manage relationship with internal clients. Past experience in this area with emphasis on service level deliveries, expectations setting, global partners, new products, etc. will be an added advantage
Ability to monitor and actively prioritize workload
Graduate or Post Graduate with a minimum of 3 years of experience (Exposure to Credit Risk Management operations would be desirable)
Knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook)
Expert Level Excel skills is a requirement (SUMIFS, SUMPRODUCT, INDEX, MATCH, LOOKUP formulas. Apart from knowing the formulas, user should know how to debug them, audit them and how to use which formula for which occasion, user should also know few alternatives for any given formula problem, Tables & Formatting, Conditional Formatting, Advanced Charting, Pivot tables)
VBA, Macros & Visio will be preferred
Exposure to controls & risk environment, Action Plans & project management preferred
Excellent Interpersonal skills. Should be able to communicate at all levels.
Strong control and quality management skills; accuracy and attention to detail is vital.
